The New Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 prime "G" standard lens can be a replacement for the 1993 "D" model but at a big increase in price (Approx $180=D and $470=G). Certainly this lens capitalizes on new technologies however, are the improvements worth the price? Here are some thoughts by Ken however, I would suggest you also get some unbiased views DPREVIEW.com
